Weavify is a private notebook that runs in your browser. There is no account, no sign-up, and no tracking. Your notes and chats are stored only on this device, in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB) — we don't have a copy.
One exception, stated plainly because it is the kind of thing this page exists to state: if you use the free tier, our relay gives your copy of the app a random number so it can count that copy's share of the daily allowance. What leaves your device depends entirely on which mode you choose for the AI:
On-device (WebLLM) stays on device
The AI model runs inside this browser. Your prompts and notes are never sent anywhere — this mode works fully offline once the model has downloaded.
Your own key (BYO) your account
Your browser talks directly to the AI provider you chose (e.g. OpenAI, Anthropic, a local server), using the key you entered. That key stays in your browser — we never see it, and nothing passes through our servers.
Free tier leaves your device
The free tier is a convenience we fund so you can try Weavify without a key. When it is active, requests pass through our small relay, which adds our operator key and forwards them to OpenRouter (an AI routing service). Two kinds of content are sent this way:
- Chat prompts — the messages and context of the note or conversation you're working on.
- Document / memory text (embeddings) — if you index a document or let Weavify build searchable memory on the free tier, that text is also sent to OpenRouter to be turned into embeddings.
We do not store the contents of your prompts or documents on our server; they are relayed to OpenRouter to generate a response and then discarded. OpenRouter and the underlying model providers process the request under their own terms. If you want zero third-party egress, use On-device or Your-own-key mode instead.
The free tier keeps a counter, not an identity. The free tier has a daily allowance, and it has to be shared out somehow — otherwise one heavy day for one person uses up everyone's. So the first time you use it, our relay gives your copy of the app a random number and your app remembers it. It is used for one thing: counting how much of the allowance that copy has used today.
It is not an account and it has no password. It is not linked to your name, your email, your phone number or your location, and it is not built from anything about your device or browser — the relay picks it at random, so two copies of the app on the same phone get different numbers. It tells us nothing about what you wrote; your entries are never stored on our server. It cannot be matched to you on any other site. It is never sent when you use On-device mode or your own key, because nothing you write is sent on those tiers. Uninstalling the app, or erasing your data in Settings, throws it away — and you simply get a new one next time.
Downloaded models
On-device AI and read-aloud (text-to-speech) download their model files from public content-delivery networks (such as Hugging Face) the first time you use them. Those are ordinary file downloads to your browser; your notes are not included.
On the phone apps, the first on-device download also asks our relay once for the read key that unlocks the model files. That request carries no counter, no identifier and nothing you wrote — it is a request for a key, not for a reply — and the model files themselves come straight from Hugging Face, not through us.
What we never do
- No accounts, no advertising, no analytics profiles, no selling data.
- We never log the contents of your prompts, notes, or documents on our server.
- Your BYO API key is never transmitted to us.
- The free tier's counter is never used to build a profile, never shared with anyone, and never sent on the tiers that don't use our relay.
